OUR STORY
Created nearly 60 years ago as a place where everyone in Los Angeles could experience all the arts have to offer, The Music Center is the third largest performing arts center in the U.S. and a beacon for arts experiences that will engage, delight and surprise you.
The 22-acre Music Center campus includes four iconic theatres—Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall—and beautiful outdoor spaces including Jerry Moss Plaza, The Blue Ribbon Garden and Grand Park. The campus was designed by the foremost architects, including Welton Beckett for The Music Center’s first three theatres and the original plaza; Frank Gehry for The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall; and Rios for the renovation of Mark Taper Forum, Grand Park and the plaza. The Music Center offers compelling, world-class experiences, from the dimensionality of our various stages and acoustic quality of our theatres, to the landscaping and amenities you will find throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces.
A Performing Arts Center for the 21st Century
The Music Center is a cultural anchor in Los Angeles and home to the world's greatest and most highly regarded artistic programs and events.
Rooted in a strong commitment to equity, excellence and access, TMC Arts, The Music Center’s programming engine, provides year-round programming inside The Music Center’s four theatres, on Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center, outside at Grand Park--a 12-acre adjacent green space--and in schools and other locations all over Los Angeles County. From Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center and free and low-cost concerts and events, to customized learning experiences for all ages and more, TMC Arts programs reflect the diverse voices and interests of the many communities in the county and bring Angelenos together in ways that enable them to discover their shared humanity. The Music Center is also home to four renowned resident companies — Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera and LA Phil.
The Music Center is truly a performing arts center for the 21st century, continually pushing the boundaries to further inspire and contribute to the artistic voice of Los Angeles.
